Overview & Challenge
Project Summary
OneSky is an advanced Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) system engineered to support commercial drone operators with real-time flight tracking, user supplied flight plans, airspace analytics, advanced terrain considerations, & regulatory compliance. I led the design of the core end-to-end flight creation, monitoring, and authorization workflows.
The Challenge
The primary design challenge was translating dense airspace analytics, terrain mapping data, and safety proximity warnings into a highly scannable, monitoring dashboard.
To streamline the flight approval pipeline, I engineered a linear, guided flight-creation sequence. This workflow automatically parsed operator data against FAA compliance rules, visually flagging environmental hazards and airspace restrictions directly on a multi-layered, interactive map before the flight plan was submitted for official authorization.
Process & Execution
Competitive Differentiation
I conducted a comprehensive competitive analysis to position OneSky's superior, deep analytical capabilities as its primary interface advantage. The main competitors included AirMap, & KittyHawk.
Systemic Workflows
It was of paramount importance to map out complete user workflow diagrams, validating every edge-case compliance path with corporate stakeholders prior to the interface implementation.
Production-Ready Delivery
I iterated rapidly through low-fidelity interface layouts before formalizing final specifications. Once finalized, red-line documentation was delivered directly to the OneSky engineering team for implementation.
